We are well into January, and these Sonny pants are getting good use as my new yoga pants.
The Minerva Core Range Brushed Ponte Roma Double Stretch Knit Fabric is perfect for this pattern. It is a good structure and plenty of stretch, not to mention it is really soft and comfortable.
Style arc patterns don't go into a lot of details with the instructions, and this one is no different. It is fairly easy to follow but I had to test the pocket instructions a few times before I was confident it was correct.
I made the size 16, and used 2m of fabric.
I decided I wanted two pockets rather than just one and also added 3" to the length.
I used my overlocker for everything except the pockets. They came together pretty quickly, even for me.
I love the fit and feel of these, and they make working out that bit more bearable.

Tauko 13 Winter wonder by Sophie hood This was a quick easy make which can be totally reversible in my opinon I use a long hair faux fur / and Teddy Faux Fur Coating Fabric from Minerva, I do think a smaller size may of been a better fit, but beeing a larger size it is quick and easy to take off and put back on, I think it is a wee bit odd (my - be a bit like a banclava) but will definitely keep my head warm #makenine2025 I might add a pom pom later LOL
Hey Hey CrochetSuch an unusual make but in this chilly weather it might be very welcome

My sequin story began 10 months ago with sequins everywhere! A stunning dress in the making for a cruise with a friend. I’m happy to say I finished it in plenty of time. The pattern I used was a vintage Butterick pattern 5307 which has several views and I opted for the one with the rear drape. I shortened the bodice by 5cm and had to adjust the seam allowances to get a nice fit. This was my first time using sequins and having done a lot of research I decided to sew through the sequins at first but because of the layers at the shoulders I had to remove a large quantity of the sequins to reduce the bulk. The fabric is Minerva Core Range Hologram Sequin Mesh fabric in rust, I used Minerva core range recycled polyester anti static lining to line the bodice and the skirt was from a stunning stretch velvet I had in my stash. I didn’t line the skirt as it didn’t need it.
I’ve worn the dress on two cruises, now and I’ve had so many compliments, I absolutely love it and felt a million dollars, certainly a statement dress and one of my proudest achievements. I am therefore entering it into the #BestOf2024 Challenge 🧡🧡

A picture taken by a friend of my recently made savannah dress/tunic and self made leggings. Info can be found on my previous post. Next on the list are the bob pants from style arc. I am currently adjusting the pattern for my short frame. Have a great day !
Annette StitchetteJust love this pattern. ❤️

I am back to work sewing this week. 😉This is a rather wonderful everyday lux top with a 1960's vibe made in #vividblooms #satinbackcrepe from the #minervaexclusive range. This top is part of a video on lining tops so the sample is completely lined including the sleeves even though the pattern I used is not lined.
The #SOIultimateshiftdress is an ubiquitous pattern which has been around for a long time but I use it a great deal as a base for lots of things in a variety of fabrics. This is because although the cover image does not show it, the pattern includes a ruffle sleeve, short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves and long sleeves. It also has a cutting line for a top in any of those combinations. Check out the schematic drawings on the back of the pattern. The pattern is ideal for beginners and is quite a grower in terms of the amount of garments you can get from it. It is darted, with facings and has the back cut with a seam so that it fastens with a single button and loop. I really like the neckline shape on it too which is why it is a favourite. Because I have made it a lot, I know that I don't need the button to get it on and off so if my fabric requirements dictate - I sometimes cut the back on the fold and sometimes not.
I would say that ordinarily this fabric does not need lining because it is opaque and soft against the skin but the pattern could be made in tweed, light coating, flannel or suiting for a winter work piece.
This really was an enjoyable sew and a wonderful addtion to my jeans/top combinations that I am so very fond of wearing. I think you could wear it for some everyday luxury or it would make a fab work or going out top too depending on your style.

I made one final garment with the green suede scuba I have! Previously, I used the material to make my son two Halloween costumes (2023 & 2024). I restyled the 2024 costume into this hoodie so it would get more mileage. I did have to seam rip most of the costume to remake this, but it’s satisfying to make something that I know will get worn a great deal, as my son lives in these hoodies during the winter. He requested a Scrabble themed hoodie as our family plays a game of Scrabble every evening, and he’s passionate about it. (At 11 years old, he wins most of the games, which is both delightful and frustrating.) I ordered these vinyl Scrabble iron-on patches from Etsy. It’s my first time using vinyl iron-on patches and I hope they hold up. I think I will be air drying this hoodie and avoiding the dryer. The body of the hoodie is lined in cotton sherpa, and I love how it makes it such a substantial and warm winter garment (and that’s why my son lives in them in the winter). The sleeves are lined in upcycled jersey—old t-shirts.
To repeat myself, use a STRETCH NEEDLE to sew scuba fabric!! Regular needles and ball point needles will result in skipped stitches!!
My husband mentioned that the hoodie looks like a bomber jacket, which I think is pretty accurate!
Pattern: Free Brindlle & Twig raglan hoodie: K003 with a front zipper added and front neckline raised
